Book reviews are subjective. I tend to rate books not according to how “perfect” they are, seem to be, or are said to be in general but rather to how perfect they are to me. I received a complimentary copy of this book, for which I’ve given an honest review, from the author.
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After the death of her fiancé, Bridget has no intention of getting seriously involved with another man who constantly risks life and limb on the job. And that’s all right with Luke, since he loves being a motocross racer and, as much as he likes women, he never gets serious about them anyway. So fancy Bridget and Luke running into each other on a Christmastime cruise in Holiday Escape by author Jean C. Gordon.
If my memory serves me correctly, this is the first time I’ve read a Christmas romance about folks trying to get away from Christmas, so to speak. It makes for an interesting holiday dynamic. I also appreciated the story’s climax, showing how life can have a way of urging us past our qualms and quibbles by reminding us what really matters, at the end of the day. Although this book is part of a series, it also stands alone just fine.
For fellow sweet romance fans who are into holiday flicks and Christmas tales, especially at the most wonderful time of the year, this one is worth a read.
