Book Review Requests

____________

*NOTICE: Review Requests are open, and current review turnaround time is 30-45 days from the day I receive the accepted book.*

I accept a limited number of review requests for fiction that’s mild to moderate in content. Anyone is welcome to make a request through my Contact page if you feel that your book would fit the “hope and inspiration” theme of this blog. Be advised that my reviews are honest, I review all of the books I read on Goodreads, and I also regularly post reviews at Amazon, LibraryThing, and sometimes Barnes & Noble. If I find that I am not enjoying a review book or don’t think I could give it a good recommendation on my blog, I may opt not to finish the book or post a review, in which case I’ll let the author know.

Formats I Accept
Print copies are preferred overall, but I also read EPUB, MOBI (Kindle), and PDF ebooks, EPUB being my first choice for digital. Print copies needn’t be signed to me, as I hold occasional giveaways on my blog and the Faith, Hope, and Book Love group for print books I’ve reviewed. (Find the FHBL group under Nadine’s Books & Album on the menu.)

Content Guidelines (Think “G to mildly PG-13 rated”)*
~an overall positive message
~no hateful or inflammatory speech or themes against any races, people groups, or faiths
~any sexual content must be tastefully handled without explicit descriptions
~violent content should not be gratuitous or gory for the sake of gore
~only minimal profanity, if any, but absolutely no use of the F-word; titles labeled or marketed as Christian Fiction should have no profanity whatsoever
~book covers must not display nudity or gore

Review Requests That Interest Me
~fiction titles only: adult, new adult, and young adult (target audience should be at least high school age, 14+)
~Christian, inspirational, or general “G to PG-13” fiction, with love stories, historical fiction, thrillers, and romantic suspense being high on my list
~novels with multicultural and international characters are also of special interest to me

Review Requests That Don’t Interest Me
~nonfiction
~children’s or middle grade fiction
~Amish fiction
~themes that appear more dark or heavily depressing than uplifting
~paranormal and vampire books
~murder mysteries

These guidelines are not exhaustive, so I urge you to take a look at the fiction books on my Favorite Reads and Recommended Reads** pages to get a feel for what I post at Prismatic Prospects. You’ll find the pages under Book Love on the menu. If you’re still unsure if your book may fall within my interest, feel free to make a request anyway, though requests for titles that are blatantly opposed to the guidelines may not receive a response. For all other requests, it’s my current policy to respond within 24-48 hours, excluding weekends and US holidays.

________________
and **: You may possibly wonder, “How strict is she about the content and subject guidelines? I see books on her blog that may have more mature content than what she says she accepts. I also see some nonfiction and children’s books on her Favorite and Recommended lists.”

Indeed, I do read some nonfiction and children’s books, but as its on a very rare and selective basis, I’ve limited review requests to only the kinds of books that interest me the most and the most often. I do also read some books with content more mature than “PG-13,” if I feel the positive message far outweighs my usual content preferences. But, again, it’s on a rare and quite selective basis, so review requests are limited to only the kind of content with which I’m the most comfortable.
