Policy and Disclosure Notices from Nadine
Though I find blog award nominations to be positive gestures, I’ve no personal interest in chain-blogging activities and will likely decline to participate if nominated.
Book Review Requests
Currently, I accept a limited number of review requests for fiction that’s mild to moderate in content. See my Book Review Requests page for further information. You’ll find it under “For Authors” on the menu.
Requests to Review My Books
At this time, book bloggers and reviewers are welcome to request digital review copies of my fiction titles, through my Contact page. (See “Fiction” under Nadine’s Books & Album on the menu.) In your message, be sure to include your preferred ebook format (MOBI [Kindle], EPUB, or PDF) and a link to your blog and/or other online book reviewer profile (e.g., Amazon or Goodreads.) Reviews should be honest and include a disclosure of the source of your review copy (the author.) Review copies are for good faith requests with the intent for books to be reviewed within 30 days. The intent to review is not an obligation, however. If you find that you are not enjoying a book of mine and would rather not finish or review it, I ask that you let me know. Review copies are only for the reviewers who request them and must not be sold or shared with anyone else.
A specified version of the following giveaway terms will accompany each open giveaway on my blog:
“If you’re interested in the giveaway, simply comment (“Share your thoughts”) on this post to be entered to win [specified prize(s)]. Be sure to mention in your comment the [prize(s)] you’d like to win. Any comment that does not request [the prize(s)] will be taken as a much appreciated friendly comment and won’t be entered in the giveaway. Giveaway ends on [specified ending date].
Additional Giveaway Terms
Giveaway entrants must be 18 years of age or older. My blog readers and visitors can enter giveaways by commenting on the related posts, and winners are determined via random.org. In the event that an entrant participates in two or more giveaways that end at the same time, or when an entrant has requested more than one prize in the same giveaway, that entrant will be eligible to win only one prize at that time. For example, if an entrant has requested books in both a Favorite Covers giveaway and a Favorite Reads giveaway that end on the same day, and the entrant is selected as a winner in the Favorite Covers giveaway, he or she will not also win a Favorite Reads prize that day, unless the number of prizes is greater than the number of entrants. However, winners are still eligible to receive any additional Giveaway Bonus gift(s) that may be tied to the giveaway. I make a good faith effort to send notifications and prizes in a timely fashion, but I am not responsible for any notifications or prizes that may be lost, delayed, or damaged through email malfunctions, incorrect email or physical mailing addresses, or problems through the postal service.
Book and Film Reviews and Ratings
As book and film reviews are subjective, I tend to rate books and films not according to how “perfect” they are, seem to be, or are said to be in general but rather to how perfect they are to me. Similar to the way that even the most amazing people come with flaws, a book or film doesn’t necessarily have to be flawless in all points for me to personally find it amazing and to rate it accordingly.
As a blogger: unless otherwise required by a blogging program I’m a part of, I only post reviews on my blog for books and films I’ve actually finished and liked, since this site is all about hope and inspiration. (As a bookworm and cinephile: I review and/or rate all the books I read and films I watch, whether I liked them or not, on Goodreads and Letterboxd.) Though a rating reflects my overall impression of a book or film, I oftentimes cannot include all of the “whys”– everything I liked or disliked about the work–to fully explain the rating, since I aim to keep my reviews concise for my blog readers. Ratings are not included in my blog reviews for books I did not finish. If an author, publicist, etc. requests that I post a review of a book I did not finish on a site that requires a rating, I rate the book based on the portion I completed, which I note in the review.
My book ratings are based on the Goodreads scale:
5 Stars = It was amazing
4 Stars = I really liked it
3 Stars = I liked it
2 Stars = It was ok
1 Star = I did not like it
5 Gold Stars for books I found amazing, 4 Silver Stars for books I really liked.
My film ratings are similarly based and include 1/2 stars. The ratings for my Online Book Club reviews, for which 4 stars is the maximum, may differ from the ratings I post for the same books on Goodreads, due to the different scale.
Ads on My Blog
Currently, I do not control the ads that WordPress automatically includes on my blog posts on occasion. If you see an inappropriate ad on one of my posts, please let me know which post it is through my Contact page, or follow the instructions on this page to report the ad directly to WordPress.
If I have received a complimentary product expressly in exchange for an honest review, the source of that product is disclosed in the review.
When my blog readers and visitors submit their email addresses to comment on my blog, I do not share those email addresses, except in the case of passing on an address to a third party who may be offering his/her own giveaway prize through my blog. Giveaway entrants may be given the option of joining a group or email list of mine (e.g., to receive advance review copies of my upcoming books), but those who do not opt-in will not be solicited with further promotional emails from me. The names or nicknames of giveaway winners will be announced on my blog after a giveaway ends, but only as the winners themselves have publicly posted their names or nicknames upon entering the giveaway. I will not share the mailing addresses giveaway winners submit to receive their prizes, and I will not use the addresses for anything other than mailing the prizes.
